Two years after the funeral of his partner and son, a man went on holiday and met them. After getting over the initial shock, she told him a shocking truth that changed everyone’s lives.
For Amy, there was nothing more important than her family. She and her boyfriend Chester had met three years ago and a year later they started living together. They had a son, Max.
He often came home late and told Amy that he had been working very hard to give her and Max the best of everything. They had both decided to postpone the wedding until they were more financially stable.

Amy always trusted Chester, and appreciated that he worked so hard to ensure the family’s financial stability. She couldn’t imagine what was behind her partner’s absences.
For now, she felt like the luckiest woman on the planet. Everything was going well in the family’s life until Amy had to go visit her sick mother, taking little Max with her.
Amy’s mother lived a few miles away in another town, so she left in the morning after Chester left for work. And while it wasn’t easy traveling with a small child, she brought toys and snacks to keep him entertained.
Meanwhile, Chester was at work anxiously awaiting Amy’s call. He needed to know that they had arrived at his mother’s house and that everything was okay.
Later that night, his phone rang and he was relieved to see Amy’s mother’s name on the screen. With a smile on his face, he answered the call.

“Chester! There’s been a tragedy!” Amy’s mother cried on the other end.
Chester’s heart skipped a beat after hearing those words. Worst case scenarios ran through his mind.
“What happened?” he asked. “Where’s Amy? Is Max okay?”
“Amy and Max… they’re dead,” the woman stammered. “Their car crashed before they could get to my house.”
“What?!” Chester exclaimed. “Amy and Max? No, no, no…”
He ended the call and ran to the airport to buy a ticket. Unfortunately, all the flights were full. He bought a ticket for the next day, hoping to see his wife and son for the last time.

However, when Chester arrived at Amy’s mother’s house the next day, he couldn’t see them. The woman told him that they had already been cremated.
Chester’s world was shattered after losing his life partner and his son, but someone showered him with boundless love and affection. Cynthia, his lover, gave him a shoulder to cry on and took care of him during the worst days of his life.
Cynthia had been Chester’s lover for months, and he had managed to hide their relationship from Amy. Whenever he told her he was coming home from work it was because he wanted to spend time with her.
Now that his wife was gone, Chester allowed Cynthia to move in with him. However, he realized that his mistress was not what he expected.
Cynthia was an extrovert who loved parties and ran away from responsibilities. After living with her for a few months, Chester discovered that Amy was the only woman he loved.

At one point, Chester asked Cynthia if she wanted to have children. “Honey, I have no plans to have kids right now! Raising a child is a huge responsibility and I’m not ready to be a mother,” she replied.
Chester had no choice but to accept his girlfriend’s choices, so he never brought up the subject again. He adapted as best he could to life with her until an unexpected event triggered painful memories from the past.
About two years after Amy and Max’s funeral, Cynthia told Chester she had a surprise for him. She showed him plane tickets to another city as soon as she got home from work.
“Let’s have fun!” Cynthia exclaimed. “My friend told me about a lot of great places to visit there.”
When Chester took the tickets in his hand and read the destination, he told his girlfriend that he wasn’t ready to go there.
“You know my wife and son died in that town,” he told Cynthia. “I don’t have the guts to go there.”

“Oh, come on, honey,” Cynthia assured her. “I won’t let you think about your past there. We’re going out and having a lot of fun!”
Looking forward to some quality time off work, Chester agreed. However, two days after arriving in the other city, Cynthia fell ill.
“I think we need to see a doctor, honey,” she told Chester.
Without wasting any time, Chester took her to the nearest hospital. The doctors told him to wait outside while they examined her. He decided to take a walk in the nearby park, and as soon as he entered, he noticed a woman playing with a child and she looked familiar.
“Amy?” he said and ran towards the woman. “Amy, is that you?”
Amy turned around and was shocked to see Chester standing there. His eyes widened. He couldn’t believe that she and her son were alive.

“Chester! What are you doing here?” Amy shouted.
“What do you mean? What does this mean, Amy?” Chester asked.
“I don’t want anything to do with you.” Amy rolled her eyes. “You’re a liar!”
Amy then told him what had happened two years ago. She told him that a woman had come to his house while he was at work and confessed that she was his lover.
“She told me she was pregnant with your child!” Amy screamed. “I tried to confront you, but you never seemed to have time to talk to me. That’s when I decided to leave you.”
She later admitted that her mother agreed to lie about his death to protect her. “I couldn’t let my son live with a liar like you!” she said.
Chester was shocked. He had never imagined that his infidelity would turn into something so big. “I’m sorry…” he started to apologize but stopped when he saw Max running towards a man saying, “Dad! Dad!”

Chester looked at the stranger. Amy had a new partner and seemed to be very happy with him. Her little son thought he was his real father. At that moment, his phone rang.
“Hi, Cynthia,” Chester said.
